Screen turns off by itself and clicking sound from the hard disk

I have been using Sony Vaio VGN-FW31J since last year June. This week I noticed that the hard dsik produced weired sounds. First it was as loud as fan sound, then today the clicking sound begin. I am afraid the hard disk is going to die. Then the display backlight blinking and turned off by itself several times today. I closed the lid and logged on and the screen went dark until several times trial, the problem went away. The screen still blinking now and then this evening.

I would contact Sony Support as soon as possible to arrange a repair while you are still withiin warranty.

My Sony run dual systems: Windows Vista (original) and Windows 7 professional (installed 3 months ago). Should I uninstall the Windows 7 prof before the returning?

It is up to you. This cannot be a software problem causing this.

I don't think you must remove Win 7 but Sony Support may reformat or replace the drive so make sure you back up anything important.
