Get a soundbar, though I'd recommend Sony's N7200W home cinema system. It's an absolute beast of a system!

As for the picture, try AV Forums or RTings picture calibration guides.

Hi all, newbie here.

I have just replaced my 8 year old 40" Bravia 1080P with this TV, and I must admit to being a little underwhelmed. I've tried various picture and sound settings but I am a little disappointed. Ok, for the picture you are relying on a quality broadcast to get good quality, but the biggest letdown is the sound; it just sounds so 'tinny' compared the one I have just replaced.

I appreciate that as TV's have become slimmer, then the speakers have had to become smaller, but I really expected more. There is just no depth to the sound.

Anyone else think the same, or any advice as to something I may be missing?

That's quite common and as you already pointed out is the price you pay for ultra thin TV's. You should consider buying a soundbar.
