SD Card keeps unmounting when connecting to USB to PC

Good day!

Everytime I connect my LWW to my laptop using the USB cable, the SD card keeps unmounting then it automatically mounts back when I disconnect the USB cable. So i cannot access files and apps on my SD card when charging my phone on my laptop.

I guess you are using MSC (file transfer) mode when connecting? If you are, the phone will disconnect the SD card so that the computer can access it. The phone and the PC can't both have access to the SD card at the same time. If you are using Media Transfer (MTP) mode they both have access at the same time.

I'm not sure if I'm on MSC or MTP. How do I know and how can I make sure that I'm using MTP. Is there a way to set that up? Thanks!

Oh I found the answer, you're correct, I was in MSC mode. I was able to change it back to MTP mode by going to Settings > Xperia > Connectiviyt > USB Connection mode.
