Gallery keeps force closing

I have had my X10 for a week now and its my first proper smartphone. When trying to access the gallery it keeps force closing. How can I fix this?

settings > apps > all > gallery > clear everything > restart your phone

if that doesn't work, repair your phone with SUS

How do you restart? Is it as simple as turning the phone off and on again? (sorry I'm not very technical)

yes with the 2010 and 2011 Xperias you have to turn the phone off then turn it back on, with the 2012 and 2013 Xperias you have to press and hold power and volume up.

so yeah just turn your X10 off > turn it back on

Guys, its me agin with the same problem. I spoke to somebody at sony who advised me to do a factory reset which worked but I lost all mt apps, passwords etc. The problem has just happened again. Can anybody tell me how to back up my phone before doing the reset in the hope it works?
