You might experience that you cannot send or receive MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) on your Xperia device running on Android 8.0 (Oreo), without enabling mobile data. This is by design. However, some network operators allow sending MMS without enabling mobile data. To find out if it is possible on your device, contact your network operator.

My new sony xperia xA2 can not send and receve mms automaticly . When I am in wifi . I must obligatoiry pass in 4 G manualy and not automatique ... my old sony pass de wifi at 4g during the send or receive mms and the new phone no ? I MUST DO manipulation manualy and I don t receive notication ring saying me that I have a mms in wifi ...my operator bouygues telecom say that it is not his responsabiliie, the probleme is your xperia xa2 . It have not this option to pass automaticly wifi at 4g since the send and reception .. I have a little forfait 4 G I need little forfait .. and I don t want change and pay more for a big forfait for look my mms and open 4 g manualy ! This phone is bad ..why this phone is a little performance that old phone . WHY there is not the option send and receive automaticly pass de wifi a 4 g sans manipulation ans sans activ the donnees manualy ?? Excuse for the traduction ..

Hi @Birgiitt!

Even if you are connected to Wi-Fi, you will still need to have mobile data turned on in the background to be able to send and receive MMS due to a change on Google's end in Android 8.0.

Keep in mind that mobile data will not be used for streaming and so forth when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, so there is no real reason for turning it off manually in your device.

There is no setting to change this as this is how it works in Android 8.0.
