My phone randomly rebooted today and is rebooting every 15 seconds or so. I turn it off and when I turn it back on it just reboots again and again. I can get into the phone for maybe 15 seconds at most and then the time becomes shorter and shorter. I noticed even though I’m shutting it down the apps are not actually closing because they’re there again when I open the phone up. The computer doesn’t recognise it and I’ve tried to do the repair but the app won’t move on it just recognises the phone is charging. Any ideas?

Hi @Za85, I am sorry to hear about this.

Firstly i would suggest that you try removing the SIM card, and then try restarting the phone. If the phone restarts successfully after you remove the SIM card it might be the SIM card that needs to be replaced. Secondly you could also try to remove the SD Card if you have one. If the phone restarts successfully after you remove the SD card, your SD card may be damaged and in need of replacement.

If none of these measures manages to get the phone out of the boot loop I recommend that you try to perform a software repair using a computer and Xperia Companion. Please note that since the device cannot pass the boot screen, you need to start the repair without the phone plugged in and make sure to tick the box in the bottom left corner "My device cannot be detected or started, or is a Smartwatch 3" and then click on "Next". After this you should be able to follow the on screen instructions given by Xperia Companion.

If the software repair doesn't help, contact your local support team in order to have the phone sent in to an authorized service center. If you have any questions regarding the service, such as routines, warranty and consumer laws, these type of questions are best answered by your local support team as well, as they vary between markets.

Let me know how it goes!

Afraid I have tried all of the above. SIM card works in a different phone, SD card working in a different device. I’ve tried to repair the software but the software doesn’t move on past the instruction to press the volume down and plug it in. The phone is not properly shutting down as even if I press the power and volume up and it buzzes three time when I turn it on the app are still open.

thanks anyway I think it just needs to go back for fixing.

My phone was rebooting a number of times in quick succession over 10 or so minutes then would settle then would reboot as above again and again.I asked for advice in the EE shop in Durham and they stated that it was Sony who had upgraded their Android system and my sim card was now not recognising the new settings, they advised that if I plugged the phone into my laptop and connected to a site called computer companion, where I would find backup and restore, first backup all your data then hit the restore and the new settings would now be installed on the phone and hopefully this would solve the problem. This does seem to have worked and my phone is working as normal. But I would suggest to Sony if they are going to upgrade their systems, they should inform people of these upgrades.
