The phone app is very slow in my Xperia S

I use Xperia S and it have been using this for more than 16 months now and it is really a good phone but for some reason the core apps like the phone, contacts don't work well. No matter how the other apps work or how many features you have, the core apps like phone or contacts should work. I click on the phone and I should wait 2 or 3 secs for it to come up. I have the latest release version. I had the problem in the previous one but I don't this problem was there when I had the gingerbread. Any help??

Thank you. But I did a factory reset to my phone few weeks ago and I restart my phone 3 day once and I dint have many widgets running and still I have the problem.

Suggest rebooting phone more frequent, especially when phone is laggy. One other thing to do is to exit apps using Back key rather than the Home key.

I never use the home key to get out of the app. But thank you will try rebooting my phone everyday. Still just wanted to know if this is just my phone or is all Xperia s phones or is it for all android phones. Doing work arounds to keep the phone running properly is not good. Hope you understand what I mean.

Yup, I understand. Everyone wants a smooth-running phone.

You may consider re-installing phone software, this will definitely help. Just make sure you backup your phone data.

Ya I did that couple of weeks ago. It was worst before. At least I am able make a proper call now. Before the reset sometimes I get a black screen if I make a call and 20 sec later the call goes automatically. Now I don't have that issue.

I am experiencing the same problem: the phone app is extremely slow, it takes seconds to start a call, and seconds to exit. Sometimes it freezes when ringing, and I have to switch off the phone. Is anything I can do except reset to factory default?

I found that with my phone, it ran a number of programs in the background. These would add up to slow down the phone.

I dont know if it is the same problem but it might help long term, unlike just redownloading the software.

I solved this first and formost by going into settings and then shutting down the useless apps and processes that were running(using caution not to shut down the important ones). (as my phone is currently broken, i cannot tell you exactly how to do this, but it is in settings under apps i think)

secondly i got a battery app, (or the one i currently use is part of my antivirus). This automatically managed my processes and programs so that with a click of a button, all the extra programs were closed down, thus increasing the speed of my phone.

dont know if you have already done this but it worked well for me

First of all I have to apologize but I made a mistake: my phone is a Xperia P. In any case, I checked the software release and I have already the latest version ( Jelly Bean 4.1.2, build number 6.2.A.1.100). Therefore I switched to the safe mode, and in this mode the phone is working properly. That's a demonstration, in my opinion, that the slow phone problem is caused by some app running in the background.

Very true indeed.I also have the P,it works pretty smooth on JB 4.1.I restart it regularly for best overall performance.

I have the same issue in my mobile Xperia Acro S It's the exact problem, I think it Seemes to be a common bug or contacts App defect.
