Hi,

So, they didn't do anything about it since original Z came out? If the problem is well known, it should be fixed 😕 I just checked my Z2 against iPhone 5S with P5 headphones and since iPhone is not as loud as HTC One S, it is a noticeably louder than Z2.

Dedicated dac-amp sounds fine but it is another component and I would have to fit all this somehow in my pocket. Sounds like a bulky solution for on the go mode.

Anyone from Sony can say something about this?

Greetings,

Luke

Hi,

Is it only me or do you also think the maximum volume level on Z2 is set a bit too low?

I have Bowers & Wilkins P5 mobile hi-fi headphones which I now use with Xperia Z2 and the maximum volume I get from Z2 seems a bit low. Previously I had HTC One S and using the same headphones I was listening with volume set mostly at about 50-90%.

Now with Z2 I have volume set mostly to 85-100%. Sometimes I feel it is not enough, especially for old, quality albums like Pink Floyd - The Wall or Roger Waters - The Pros And Cons of Hitch Hiking when listening in outdoor, noisy environment. These headphones are optimised for mobile. I really would like to have some margin so I know that I still can go a bit higher if I want.

What is your experience with these or other headphones and Xperia Z2? Dooes anyone also feel the max volume is set bit too low? I ask because I know that this is subjective thing, I don't know whether it is a problem with my ears or the volume calibration of the phone.

Greetings,

Luke

It's the Z2. It's been like this since the Z. That's y the first thing a lot of us do when the phone is rooted is to get an audio mod.

The alternative is to get a portable amp.

I agree. And from what I've heard, the reduction in volume is to maintain clarity of the audio. Which i think is fair enough. But I think there should be an option to 'boost' audio even if it is at the expense of clarity and accuracy. Some of us just want it LOUD.

OK so after a few months I got used to the max volume. Actually I think it is safer for my ears.
