xperia miro settings tab missing

Hello

looking for some help here. Unfortunately the settings tab on my wifes phone has gone missing. there is no settings tab to press at all. when trying to access the settings from the pull down notification bar we see the message "unfortunately sytem UI has stopped working. when trying to create a shortcut on the home screen we see the message "unfortunately xperia home has stopped working". any ideas whats going here and how we go about fixing it please, thanks.

The only thing I can suggest is to back up all your info to a Pc etc and then either performing a factory reset or a system repair - It sounds like something has gone wrong - Normally due to an app causing an incompatibility and on some occasions a virus - But some would say such things can't happen to an android device

or and this isn't guarenteed to work open Settings then Apps and swipe to all - Scroll down the list untill you see Settings then open - Tap on Clear cache and Clear data and this should reset all settings and will not delete and files but it will reset things like alarms and any other changes you made like ring tone or volumes etc

I would like to try the second option, but unfortunately that is where the problem lies, I can't even access the phone settings, it's ridiculously frustrating.

No, not even from there, the settings icon has totally dissapeared
