z1 compact not notifying me of facebook stuff

Hi, I recently got a z1 compact. My issue is that it doesnt notify me of facebook or fb messenger stuff.

When someone tags me in a post or writes on my wall the phone doesnt inform me of it, unless i actually click on the facebook app. Messengers the same it doesnt notify me at all unless i click on the app, then its there.

I have checked that the app notifications are on but still nothing happens.

Im not in stamina mode, have wifi on and roaming data on when not in wifi range.

Please can someone help? its driving me crazy.

Have you tried clearing the cache/data of facebook app?

The clearing cache/data didn't work.
Still not notifying me of stuff.

Do you have Stamina Mode enabled? If yes it disables all data transmission when screen is off so you will not get any notification.

Go into Settings / Power Management / Stamina and disable it. If it helps you can turn Stamina on again, then click on it and add Facebook and Messenger apps into the exceptions list. They will have access to the Internet while the phone is in standby.

Check also if the apps are up to date.

I don't have stamina enabled and have put fb and fb messenger on the exceptions list already.
Both apps are up to date.
Oddly messenger notifys me wen on WiFi but not away from it. Though I have roaming enabled, the phone just doesn't notify me though the messages do get through if I click in the app.
Fb doesn't notify on either.

You said you have roaming enabled. You mean data transmission in roaming or only roaming voice? You should enable roaming data transmission but it may cost you fortune so beware of that.

Also check settings in Facebook and Messenger. If they work over Wifi they also should work over data transmission as long as it is enabled.

All is on, both fb and fb messenger come through when away from WiFi. The phone just doesn't inform me of messages or posts unless I actually tap on Facebook or messenger. Phone doesn't notify me of anything that happens on Facebook at all(WiFi or not) , unless I actually click on the app.
Even though I have alerts set to on.
It's really odd, because I've never had this issue with other phones.

This appears to be something that is happening to a lot of people recently and as it is only Facebook notifications that are causing this issue I would have to advise keeping an eye out for any updates to the Facebook application.

What are your thoughts about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

So you think it's an issue wit facebook itself.
I wondered if there was an issue when transferring stuff from my old phone to new that might be causing random issues. I just don't really wanna have to do a factory reset.

Facebook and Messenger are using the same background service to keep data in sync and transfer notification.

Have you tried removing both apps? Try this. Remove them, restart phone (turn it off and on again) then go into Play store and install again. First Fb, then Messenger.

I did remove and reinstall but didn't restart phone in between, I will try again and let u know if it helps.

Removed and reinstalled, both have had updates since and still the same problem.
Gotta nasty feeling I'm gonna have to factory reset.

I have similar problem. All notifications work fine on wifi. But while I am using data transfer, I have to click on the app to check notification. As far as I know, this issue concerns all apps I have installed.

I clicked restore app settings and facebook messenger worked off and on wifi for about a day but has now gone back to not notifying me.

facebook itself still tells me nothing, I dont even get the little number come up on the app icon.

Im now trying to see if xperia with facebook makes a difference, though it didnt before and i dont even know if it has synced properly.
