Sony Xperia Z 1 back side glass panel has broken

My Sony Xperia Z 1 back side glass panel has broken ..i have already visited Sony Authorized Service Centre and they told me to pay Rs. 18,000/- to replace this mobile for a newer one but i want a better suggestion ..Can i chnage the back side panel ? if i can then how much cost it will ? My handset is under warrenty period it just 9 months old and also please tell me if i won't replace the back side glass panel it will efect on my waterproof facility !

You can replace this yourself and doesn't cost much at all - As for waterproof you need to have a vacume test performed and with a cracked back pannel I very much doubt it is waterproof
