cracked front screen during camera use at night with flash on??

Not sure if its a Z1 but its only a few months old and of course I have no insurance as ive never needed it. So tonight I was firing off a pile of pics trying to capture a lightning storm over Noosa (Australia) and after a while the phone froze. I thought it was from too many pics and video. I tried to turn off the phone with no luck and when I got back to my car I saw a hairline crack running from top to bottom. Does anyone have any ideas?? Is this a warranty thing given its not even 6 months old? Any help would be great before I drive a couple of hours to get the phone back to Vodafone...Thanks 🙂

I have e-mailed Sony suppport I just thought I'd share the issue and see if people have had good feedback from Sony?
