Xperia e5 headphones not working

Hello, i got rhia phone recently and i didnt run in big problems but this might be one.My headphones that i used for music broke down (they were fine) and i found some old crappy chinese headphones to listen music temorary untill i buy new. I put them in jack and phone didnt recognize it. I downloaded app called SoundAbout and they were pausing itself. I tried headphones with other non sony devices in house and it worked nice. I need to fix it fast cuz im travelling tomorrow and i dont want to get mega bored. Sorry for bad english. Regards!

I was listening to music just fine with my new headphones untill they broke and these old headphones are nit working.

Exactly, test a different pair of headphones, not the broken pair nor the cheap pair, but a new pair.
