EE Wifi Calling Unlocked SIM Free

Just recieved my XZ2 bought direct from the UK Sony store, only to find WiFi Calling and 4g/Volte calling does not work. It will work on phones bought direct from EE but not the SIM free version.

Having owned an XZ1 bought from Amazon on which WiFi calling and 4g/Volte calling worked on EE, I assumed Sony was following suit of other manafacturers and making their future handsets compatible with networks WiFi calling etc.

Return requested, not happy.

Bought mine from amazon, no WiFi calling option to be found, It did ask me once but nothing happened

Wifi calling works fine on my sim free xz2 on EE also bought from amazon uk.

Is yours the single-SIM variant by any chance? Thinking it might be because mine is dual-sim.

Checked and EE firmware is only available on the single-SIM devices

My XZ2 was single SIM bought from the Sony UK online store, wondered wether a software update would change it.

I bought my XZ1 from Amazon and it didn;t have Wifi or Volte but after a software update it did. I note there has been a software update since I returned the phone (on that note I'm still awating my refund, extreemly poor service from the Sony store).

I had the same WiFi calling screen, it only came up when I tried to make a call, I selected WiFi calling but as soon as you left that screen it wasn't on, nor did it ever work.

Also there was no WiFi Calling option in the call settings like there usually is.

I had software version: 51.1.A.2.213

Just received my XZ2 Dual sim from Amazon, updated the software and there is no Wifi Calling or Volte, you get the screen to turn on WifiCalling if trying to make a call but it does nothing.

Very dissapointed, will have a good play with the camera and send it back.

Sony I'm trying to be a good customer, but no Wifi Calling and no 4g/Volte calling no sale I'm afraid.

Could you please check in the phone App settings menu if you have the option to toggle WiFi calling on and off?

I have the same screen you posted a screenshot of on my Dual sim XZ2 but it despite letting you turn on, definitley does not work and there is no option in the phone app settings. It only appears when you try to mae a call without signal but still doesn't work.

Does it make calls over 4g too? If you have 4g signal does it revert to 3g/H+/2g when you make a voice call or does it remain on 4g?

Appears that only the single sim variant is approved by EE for Wifi calling. Flashed from B8266 to B8216 and it miraculously appears.

VoLTE provisioned on B8216, but not B8266 when looking at phone info with *#*#4636#*#*

How are you finding general phone signal?

XZ2 has 4x4Mimo and Cat 18 LTE so should be stronger than previous generations?
