Hotspot connection dropping off continuously

hi all,

I have been having issues using the hotspot from my phone when I try to tether my ipad with my Sony XZ. I will have wifi connection for a brief minute before the signal drops off. When I check the phone, the hotspot will show that it has been switched off. I am having to open the hotspot function every 2-3 min which is very painful.

I have previously been able to tether the connection with my laptop continuously with no drops but even this has been a problem. My 4G connection has always been quite weak (1-2 bars) but the data is still coming through on the phone and I have no problems surfing on the phone.

Anyone has any ideas what is causing the hotspot to auto shut down?
