Volume controls don't work

After the recent software update as of 25.04.17 (I'm guessing android Nougat 7.1.1 update) the volume controls on the right no longer do the job. I have to go into Settings > Sound to change the volume now. Please help.

I also updated today 7.1.1, the Hardware keys (near Power button) is working.

I am sorry to hear about this issue

In this case, it may be a good idea to boot the device into Safe Mode and see if the issue continues.

Use the instructions above to boot to Safe Mode, once there test out the buttons and let me know the outcome.

Firstly, Thank you for the quick response.

Sadly, the problem still occurred after booting in safe mode.

I see, then you may need to reload the handset's software to resolve this issue.

I would suggest backing up the handset and the running a software repair on the device.

So I did the Backup and then the Software Repair. Right after the start up, in addition to the volume keys, even the camera key had stopped working. So I tried again after few minutes and its all good now.

First Backing up and now Restoring, it's a pain. But IT WORKED.

Sure. I'd still like to ask though, is there any known reason as to why the problem occured?

Hi @SERIAL_CHILLER,

Unfortunately, there are an array of things that could cause this type of problem, the fact this was resolved with a software repair tells me this was likely third party orientated or possibly a bad install of the update on the device.

I wish I could advise what exactly caused the problem, however, there are just too many variables.
