topic WF-1000XM4 and conference calls in Portable Audio

I have a pair of WF-1000XM4 headphones running the latest firmware from 17 June and a MacBook Pro running macOS 11.4. Unfortunately, I am experiencing a bizarre issue with conference calls.

When I use Microsoft Teams with the WF-1000XM4 headphones, I can join a call immediately, but I cannot hear anyone before about 20 seconds into the call. When I use Google Meet with the WF-1000XM4 headphones, I have to wait about 20 seconds before I can join a call. It seems like the WF-1000XM4 headphones need about 20 seconds to initialize the Bluetooth profile HFP.

I experience nothing like this when using no headphones or other headphones — including other headphones from Sony. Please could anyone at Sony investigate the issue?

Have you tried using the same headphones with the same apps but on a different mac/device?

Alternatively, for the headphones themselves, have you tried resetting them?

- JD

Yes, I have tried with an identical MacBook Pro, and yes, I have tried resetting the headphones. The issue persists.

The issue may be with the specific MacBook Pro/macOS combo, trying a more different device would be a better test, like your phone for example or a tablet.

To clarify, I mean this combo with these headphones specifically, some sort of incompatibility for example, not that the MacBook is the issue.

Joe, I have upgraded the headphones to the latest firmware from 27 July, and I am still experiencing the same issues with both my MacBook Pros 2018. I cannot recall having issues with Microsoft Teams and Google Meet on my iPhone 11 Pro. Yet, I expect no issues with my MacBook Pros as well. What do you suggest I do?
