just to confirm, all other buttons seem to work. mute, arrows, ok, etc. but not the volume buttons.

the volume buttons work on the keyboard, not on the remote.

I don't have exactly the same system but it might be a similar problem I came across (on the XL201). If you connect your speakers to the RCA output (red and white sockets) the remote has no effect on the volume. You need a utility called Volume Tracker - http://www.chrisnet.net/apps/VolumeTracker.zip Remember to place a shortcut of the utility in your startup folder. Not sure if it's the same problem you're having but it might be worth giving it a try.

I've never had the Vaio remote control able to affect my 201's TV volume, only the PC volume. Like you say, all other buttons work (channel up/down for instance). If you set the TV to a standard volume, then use the remote to control the output from the Vaio's soundcard, that may work?

I still use the remote for my Sony TV to control the volume there, but guess it should work from the one, as they're the same manufacturer.
