VP noise when switched off

I have noticed than when I switch off my VP, I can hear a high frequency noise. I hadn't noticed that with the standard headphones, but with the MDR-EX81s I do. When I switch it on (no music playing), the noise is gone.

Has anyone noticed that? :smileythinking:

Same for mine, especially when I use the remote...

I think that's the battery unloading itself we can hear, somehow (as it does unload itself even when switched off).

It is enough of a nuisance that I can't keep earplugs such as my Etymotics in my ears when the player's off. 😕

I've noticed it too but with Bang & Olufsen A8 earphones but not with Bose QC2 headphones.

I never used the stock earphones.
