Hello,

I have a PCG-FR315S which sometimes fails when I'm using it (it turns off without saving what I'm working on or shutting down, like it doesn't get no power anymore).

Now I think this is because it is getting overheated. I've downloaded speedfan and the CPU is getting really hot (85 degrees celcius is no exception). Can anyone tell me how to lower the CPU temperature (like how I must clean replace the fans or some other tips).

Thank you for an answer,

Menno

Hi Menno

Welcome to Club Vaio..

First try clearing the cooling vents of dust with compressed air (you should be able to get this from your local PC shop), holding the can upright give the vents a short blast from a distance of approx. 10cm if you hold the can to close you could damage the fan..

If you do not notice any improvement then your vaio may need to be disassembled in order to deep clean the fan and cooling vents.

Hi,

I'd second Thalamus' advice. Get the keyboard off, and clean out as much as you can with compressed air or a mini keyboard/camera vacuum cleaner. An old dell I had would hit aroun 60 degrees centrigrade, and when I opened it, the heat sink was a ball of insulating dust. Clean her! (or get someone else to, if you don't feel safe)

Hello again,

I will do the cleaning. Any tips on how to remove the keyboard and other places to clean?
I'm not afraid to do it but want to do it right.

Best regards,
Menno
