I have recently purchased a Sony HDR-PJ420VE.
When I connect an external mic (via mic input, not MI shoe), the audio recording level seems to increase automatically when the background sound level is low, resulting in rising level of hiss/noise - probably due to some automatic gain control. As soon as the background sound level goes up (e.g. talk, music etc.), the recording level drops down to "normal", but when there is a quiet period the hiss increases again.
I have tried to set audio record level to manual, but the problem persists. Any suggestions?
