Hi chris9973, as you can imagine things have moved on since you bought your DCR-HC23. Have you checked out the 23 models on the Sony store handycam page? When on the handycam page if you click on Filter you can narrow down the models suitable for Casual shooting, Adventure & Travel, etc or you can adjust the price to suit your budget.
Once you have narrowed down the models it is always worth checking out some of the reviews on the web before you make your purchase.
