Over the past couple of days I my phone has been dying frequently.
During my work days the phone is idle most of the time and I can usually have a fully charged phone in the morning and still have around 40% by the time I'm off to bed however lately I'm lucky if my phone lasts till 4pm before turning off.
i have noticed that when my phone is in use, the battery has started to drop rather rapidly and the once it gets to around 30% the battery level immediately drops to zero and powers off (it literally did it while I was looking at it). It doesn't let me power it back on until it's charged enough.
ive also noticed that if I use it for even a moment while it's on charge the battery still drops. Anyone have any ideas as to what's happening?

I'm using the test in the service menu. As soon as I clicked it it said that it would take several hours, it's currently at 23hrs and if I try to select back it says " warning test not yet finished". It's giving me all the information about voltage, temp, plug type, start and current %, and it says the health is good.

We are not talking about the same service menu>service test (*#*#7378423#*#*), in there you should get a read in (uAh) and the information if the battery is good or not and if it needs replacement.

Is it possible someone from Sony help us out as this is affecting too many phones especially it appears that an update could be the problem as the issue appeared from nowhere. Batteries are draining rapidly ruining the use of the phone

Thanks for your replies, its made me think this is likely to be more of a software than hardware issue. I was considering a new battery but I guess the same thing could happen with a new battery and the phone isn't designed to easily replace the battery. I will try a factory reset when I've checked I've backed everything up.
It will be interesting to see if/how Sony resolve the issue. In the mean time I think Im going to have to get another (non Sony) phone as charging twice a day is not practical!

You are correct I have had the battery checked out and there is no fault with the battery so it would a waste of money to change it. Sony will wash their hands of this fault as they are only concerned with selling phones

That shouldn't be the battery health test in the Xperia Z5 service test (I even went looking in my old Z5 just to be sure), anyway the Xperia Z5 has as new a 2900mAh minimum battery, so probably your device doesn't have the full capacity in your battery now, something is not right.
Did you also tested your device in safe mode?
