My PRS-600 cannot be recognised by my iMac

Have loaded the latest Reader software update but the PRS-600 still cannot be found by the computer.  I have done all the recommendations by the 'Troubleshooter' section of the User Guide.

HELP!  I cannot bear to be without this wonderful device.
