So i have recently purchased a 'SeaGate Firecuda 2TB internal hard drive' which is compatible with my Playstation 4. I am wondering if this same hard drive is compatible with and can be installed into the new Playstation 5. If this first question cannot be answered, i also ask whether the original Sony hard drive from the Playstation 4 is compatible with the playstation 5 too?
Yes it is compatible, but only as an external hard drive in a USB 3 or USB C hard drive enclosure.
The PS5 internal drive expansion uses an M2 slot for yet to be certified certain SSD drives.
I am using my old firecuda I put in my ps4 pro in an enclosure plugged into the back of my PS5.
It will only install PS4 games to the external drive but it does indeed work for running PS4 games on the PS5.
So, say that hypothetically i have just purchased a playstation 5. How would i go about installing my hard drive from my ps4 to my ps5 ?
