Cannot open any application in SE xperia neo V.

My SE Xperia neo V running ICS OS crashing allmost all the apps while trying to open. Even I could nt open the setting menu aswell for trying factory reset. When i contacted the sony service they told me that there is a chance that phone may damaged if trying to flash a new firmware. can anyone please help.??
