Failed update. Won't boot

I just got a replacement for my xperia play, brand new (Not rooted) So it keeps telling me an update is available, so I tried to update it.

Phone was fully charged before I attemp to update!!!

Sony Companion failed the update, so I tried again. Failed multiple times (10+)

Now not only does my phone not work, I can't update it or even use the update service.

Everytime I tried to start up, it shows the sony ericsson screen, then a triangle with an "!" inside with a phone lying beside it. After that it just shuts off.

I can't turn the phone on while it is plugged into the computer.

ok, I meant the bootloader not SIM lock

Nothing is done to it except being unlocked. I bought it brand new from a trusted ebay store. Nothing about he bootloader was mention to be modified.
