Recently updated phone, battery run completely down overnight now won't charge, connect to PC or anything, any help gratefully received. Thanks

Me too, after my first phone failed, went and bought a new one, done an update and have the same issue on the second phone

I had been having the same problem - push the cord in hard and the battery charge light came on for just a second or two then nothing after the phone had completly run down. what fixed it for me was blasting out charging port with compressed air at my shop. (about 100 psi) now its got the red light light on solid and appears to be charging. try that before you start buying random parts / cords / batteries!
