you can clear the cache
settings > apps > all > tap on an app > clear cache
or
settings > apps > running > tap on an app > clear cache
or download an app to do it for you but keep an eye on the permissions such app require

thanks again, i'll try that.
i thought the android cache would fill up with unwanted stuff much like a windows cache would. if it can be done manually than thats great.
