Touchscreen problem....help!

Hello,

I m facing a strange prob with touchscreen....the top 0.8 mm of th screen doesnt seem to respond....i cant slide down the notification bar....after performing a settings reset it works fine.....only to recur again after a while.Cant find a particular trigger causing it.... Can anyone tell me if its a software or a hardware prob?and any permanent solution to this prob? (android version 4.04)

Thanks for the reply ....repairing the fone seems to have solved the problem....it was problem with screen callibration is it?
