We've just upgraded our phone recently from a w595 to a Spiro.
I thought with PC Companion the upgrade would be simple but it seems Sony may have turned this into a bit of a minefield - grrrr....
I plugged the w595 in and used the backup software to backup all the data, such as memory card data, contacts, calendar, etc...
Then came to plugging in the Sony Ericcson Spiro - I got a nice message from Sony telling me PC Companion does not support this phone - oh great!
Is there anyway without manually sending the contacts over one-by-one that I can get PC companion or some other tool to just get these phones to sync with each other and copy all the data over.
I guess it can't be that hard can it, it is upgrading from one Sony to another Sony after all, or do Sony not like to reward loyalty in their brands?

http://mediago.sony.com/enu/introduction/ You can use Media Go to transfer media files from the W595 to the Spiro via PC.With regards to other files such as applications and games, you can transfer your W595 files to the PC in File transfer/Mass storage mode, by copy/paste or drag/drop, and then copy them to the Spiro from the PC in Mass storage USB mode. You can also do this for your media files. As for your contacts, the easiest way is to copy them to the W595's SIM card and then transfer the SIM to the Spiro where they can be copied back to the phone memory.

The Spiro isn't compatible with My Phone Explorer, although the W595 is.
bummer, thanx for the info
No worries.
Thanks everyone for their suggestions. I managed to copy most of the stuff over I think.
As for the contacts I ended up sending them 1 by 1 via bluetooth - what a pain in the backside that was!
I couldn't copy them through the SIM card because all the contacts contained additional info such as pictures, etc which wouldn't have copied over using the SIM, plus there was more contacts than would go onto the SIM, and the old phone has an Orange SIM and is locked to Orange, and the new one has an O2 SIM and locked to O2.
It's a shame that Sony Ericcson don't have any easy method of moving all contacts from one phone to another, especially when they're both Walkman phones, you'd think that would be the first thing they'd do, maybe they can add this to their list of future enhancements for these phones.
