Turn on my display when receiving a msg?

SONYのスタッフへ,

I'm very happy with my XPERIA go and don't want to miss it anymore. There's just one thing that really bugs me & my friends: The display will only turn on by itself when receiving a call... not when receiving a sms/mms.

There are many situations when the phone needs to be on silent mode (i.e. during a meeting) but one's waiting for an important message. Sadly the notification LED is not noticeable enough and one has to push the power button to check the lock screen every few seconds - quite troublesome.

Is there a way to make my phone turn on the display for ~3 seconds when receiving a message?

If not, can you please include such an option into the next software update?

You can try Screen Notifications or SMS Popup. Both apps are open source.

Screen Notifications merely turns on the screen for a customizable duration so you'll only see the lockscreen, but it uses the proximity sensor to determine whether or not it should do so (otherwise it would needlessly waste power while the phone is still in one's pocket).

SMS Popup creates a popup with the whole message in it, even when the phone is locked. I think you'll find the latter more useful, though privacy might be reduced.

Amazing, thank you so much!!

As recommended I installed SMS Popup and love how customizable it is. There's also an option for not showing the message's content in the popup, so privacy isn't too big a problem. Even the LED colour can be adjusted (the white that came with JB is too subtle); I just hope the app doesn't use too much battery.

It'd still be great if SONY included such an option officially, though.

I believe there are many more users who'd appreciate if their screen lit up upon receiving a message Slightly_smiling_Face
