Unread Message Notification Dot not dissappearing

Any tips/solutions to solve this much appreciated. 
Android 13 Xperia Pro I, google messages app constantly shows notification dot on the app. There are no unread messages, and storage and cache have been deleted, I changed the preferred SMS application to multiple others to attempt to remove this, disabled & removed updates to the Google messages app, and reinstalled it in an attempt to remove it, but no luck.

Hi @hector33  and welcome to the Community

If you have already tried clearing the cache and storage or uninstalling then reinstalling the app

with no luck then it may clear itself when you next receive a new message.

Maybe you could try getting someone to message you to check?

Thanks Jumpsuit but receiving new messages does not wipe the persistent dot!

Uninstall and reinstall does not work either. At a loss as what to do next. Shambles

Unfortunately I'm out of ideas on this. You seem to have tried everything.

Perhaps another member has any suggestions?
