When Super Users can give tutorials for manually update then why SONY is not giving an official ICS UPDATE OF XPERIA U in all countries.

Here is the link for manually update http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41609 but where is the date for an official update. If people have to manually update their phone then there should not be no void of warranty. Then don't give updates to any country at all.

Lol

you have to wait for the update to be approved in your country and/or network

you can read about the update release process here

Haha, Uliwooly can only handle this answer.

For official updates....well there is no place to find any dates for that.....sadly.

As far as I understand it, it's not necessarily Sony's fault one particular country has no ICS update. Even if they do roll it out - and for some countries they have - they actually give it to the phone company from that country and THEY decide when [and IF] they roll it out to the phones in their network.

For instance I have no idea if Sony already rolled out the update to Romania, but they may have. Unfortunately I contacted Orange [my provider] and they told me "the update for our customers MIGHT be available before 2013". So even if Sony had released the update to Romania, OrangeRO have no intention of releasing it before December. Simple as that; it enlightened me and I proceeded in flashing the French ftf. Works like a charm.

As far as release dates go - everyone will tell you the same. It can't be known when your update will come to your phone in PC Companion. Of this I'm sure.

If anyone has any correction for my first paragraph please feel free to correct me. Slightly_smiling_Face

But what about sim free users?

in some countries the updates for SIM free phones must be approved by networks/carriers

We cannot provide any information regarding when certain SI’s will get ICS, or any other software updates will be released. Not because we don’t want to inform about it, but because it is due to the Operator and Google software approval process, which Sony Mobile cannot influence.

This means, that if a certain SI is not available on the list on the Support Forum this is due to awaiting Operator approval. We have no info on if and/or when the Operator will approve the SW until the actual decision is made by the Operator.

The List on the Support Forum is updated on a weekly basis. So as soon as it’s available it will be on the list! (see links below)

the same appy to the 2012 Xperias.
