Does a seperate 3D transmitted lead to inferior quality 3D?

I was thinking that if you have a Bravia with seperate 3D transmitter, surely it will be difficult for the glasses to stay in synch with the picture. There will be a gap between the TV and transmitter which is not accounted for.

Never been a problem for any of the devices I've seen with external trannies - maybe its offset automatically?
