False Advertising on the W6 Series - DO NOT BUY

Anyone who wants to buy this TV specially for the smooth MotionFlow 200 options beware.

This TV does not support MotionFlow.

This is clearly false advertisement.

Am bumping this every single day until someone from Sony acknowledges why it has been falsely advertised.

c'mon sony either put motionflow and it's settings on the set or give us an answer to why it's not on there when you advertise the set as having motionflow.or do nothing and we go down the false advertising trading standards road.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention – we have been talking to Sony to try and straighten this whole thing out, and Sony have gone directly to the Design team in Tokyo who worked on the KDL-42W653A.

This model of television has a setting that reduces motion blur, but it is not called “Motionflow”, rather it is called “LED Motion Mode”. You can find it under ‘Advanced Settings’. Please follow the instructions at this link to access your Advanced Settings: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/13LW600112/EN/c_picscrn_europe_lk_lw_exceptpicmode.html (scroll to the bottom)

Sony televisions have a lot of different features, and these can vary between models. We know that the options available to you are not always clear or easy to keep track of – in fact one of the reasons it has taken some time for us to reply is because we had to double check ourselves! Having done this, we can confirm with complete certainty that the KDL-42W653A does not and never did have a Motionflow setting in the menu – but does have something very similar in name and function in the ‘LED Motion Mode’ setting.

Hopefully this clears everything up!

Its still false advertising, many people bought this tv, because they want a sony tv with motionflow.

This TV is everywhere advertised with "Motionflow XR 200Hz" and not "LED Motion XR 200 Hz".

Even the Sony Productpage says:

Smooth action with Motionflow XR 200Hz - Sports and fast-moving action look noticeably smoother and sharper, with a choice of viewing modes to suit different programs

Amazon Productpage says:

2 x HDMI and 1 x USB Connection and MHL connections, Motionflow XR 200Hz

The Amazon Productpage says:

Motionflow
Reduces blur and smooths movement

It looks also like, some people had a motionflow menu and it has been removed with an firmware update?

Im quite disappointed...

Hi SuB-Zer0,

The KDL-42W653A is Motionflow enabled but it is not possible to turn it off via the settings – it is always enabled. We believe that the Motionflow setting that users saw was actually the ‘LED Motion Mode’ option in the menu, and this is where the confusion arises from.

Hey. Sorry just to clarify -

LED Motion Mode is what MotionFlow is called on this television. So you can enable MotionFlow by choosing LED Motion Mode from the Advanced Settings.

so sony lets get this straight.

1.motionflow xr 200hz is infact led motion, then why advertise the set as having motionflow and not led motion.false advertising

2.The KDL-42W653A is Motionflow enabled but it is not possible to turn it off via the settings – it is always enabled.

from hdtv test. While we’re at it, we ran our custom “motion interpolation checker” pattern on the KDL42W653A, and verified that no forced motion interpolation took place in any of the [Scene Select] presets
Sony’s motion-compensated frame interpolation system is called [Motionflow],

3.sony your description of motionflow. On a conventional 50Hz TV fast moving action films or sports can sometimes be hard to follow. Motionflow technology delivers a smoother, less blurry experience by creating and inserting completely new transitional images between every frame of the TV picture. The result is clean, clear and sharp images, no matter how fast the action gets.

4.sony motionflow.Motion interpolation or motion-compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) is a form of video processing in which intermediate animation frames are generated between existing ones, in an attempt to make animation more fluid, and to compensate for display motion blur.

led motion is backlight scanning and is not the same thing as motionflow

sony you need to contact myself and others who are not happy with the fact that we paid for something that the set was advertised as having but does not, and offer a satisfactory solution to this or myself and im sure others will take this issue further.
