Hi,
I am having a problem at the moment with my computer date. Every now and then it will change to the year 6004. I have checked for spyware and viruses and I also did an OS restore yesterday.
The date changes when my pc has been running for a long length of time. The only apps that are running are Norton Firewall, my DNS Updater, click to DVD and MSN messenger.
Anyone else seen this?
Cheers
Paul
Are you using the internet time syncronisation option?
erm,,
I dont think so..
How do I check?
Double click on the clock and go to the 'Internet Time' tab. Make sure that 'automatically syncrhonise with an internet time server' is ticked. That's for Windows XP, I don't recall 98 or 2k having this feature without a separate program.
I use time.nist.gov as mine and have had no problems.
ok,, it was set already - have changed it to the nist.gov one..
will see if it makes a difference
still no success.. Date has changed twice since I altered this.
Any more thoughts...?
Try AdAware (www.lavasoft.de) to see if you have any spyware changing the time for you.
Why would spyware change the date? It you are using a desktop it may be that the motherboard battery needs changing. It's easy to do, take a look inside its just a standard large watch battery style battery. Buy a new one, stick it in. Um assuming thats the problem. Not liable if it isnt.
The thing is if it was the battery it wouldn't be in the future.
I'm having a stab in the dark really....
