I recently purchased a new custom build S series.
It came pre-installed with Windows 8 which I didn't like, so have successfully removed, wiped and installed a-new with Windows 7 Ultimate.
All drivers are installed with the exception of the one for Huawei EM680 w/Gobi.
I have searched high and low and canoot find a driver anywhere.
Google results seem to lead no-where and I have used WinZip Driver Updater and Driver Agent sites to identify a correct driver with no success.
My System Details are...
Model name: SVS15112C5E
Service Tag: C60BL7AA
Bios Version: R0081C8
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
ME version: 8.1.0.1248
Any helpful response would be greatly appreciated!
Hi terryrogers1984,
Please don’t take this as gospel but I think the Huawei EM680 w/Gobi uses the Gobi 3000/ Qualcomm HS-USB WWAN driver. If is the case then there were various Vaio models with this device released with Win 7 as the original OS. One of which is the VPCSE2C5E.

As you have installed a retail copy of Windows you may need to also install various drivers and utilities that the WWAN device is dependent on. These include, but may not be limited to, Sony Shared Library, Sony Notebook Utilities and Vaio Smart Network.

Thank you fagus1956.
Unfortunately I don't have access to the original config as I wiped the recovery partition when I installed Windows 7!
I have ordered a set of recovery disks, so once they arrive i'll post if I can extract the driver from the disks or original image.
Thanks for the post though, it look's to be very helpfull. !
I have finally got things working, but not with Windows 7.
I had to get the restore discs from Sony and revert back to Windows 8.
Hi Tezzer101,
Stating the obvious here but In that case it would seem that the Win 8 drivers are not compatible with Win 7.
As downgrading from Win 8 to 7 is not supported by Sony I doubt that a solution will come from that direction.
Thanks for the update though.

It may very well be that a Windows 8 driver would work with Windows 7.
The problem was the only way to get it was to do a complete restore of the laptop, after which I decided not to revert back to Windows 7 and press on with getting used to Windows 8!
Can you send me the driver if vou please?
Huawei EM680 w / Gobi Technology
Thank you in advance.
José
Hi Tezzer101
Can you send the win 8 drivers to me?
I have tried almost everything on win7, but as you i deleted recovery, and i dont want to go for win8.
If you send them i can have them online on a server of mine, so other useres can download them.
I will put them om funksjonell.no/VAIOdrivers
My email you can send to is panpeeter1@aim.com
Thanks from Norway
