Gfx problems when running off battery -S1XP

Hi all, my first post here..
I have recently bought an S1XP Vaio, and am really pleased with the machine. My problem is that nearly all my games have graphic glitches/corruption when playing off the battery, but when playing off the mains the graphics are absolutely fine.. My friend has the same machine and he doesn't have the problem. Most notably the games in question are Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam...
We are both using the same drivers, the latest Omega drivers.
If anyone can shed any light on it this will be a real help... I have tried uninstalling all the ati drivers on the machine and reinstalling but to no avail..

Try going back to the latest Sony graphics drivers and see what happens. This may be something hardware related, but Sony can't help with third party drivers so you will have to go back to theirs first anyway.

is is probably due to power saving, turn it to performance and it should go away.
