Not sure about Win 7 install

If I was to install Windows 7 using the proper disk you can buy from stores will my Vaio work fully? (Blu-Ray, card reader, webcam etc.) I'm assuming you can install the Vista drivers for them thats avilable from this site.

I know the pre-installed Vaio programs will go and I assume the hidden recovery partition will be wiped too but is there anything else to know?

Thanks

I would strongly recomment that you buy an Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium disc for about £70 from PC World or Currys.

When you put the disc into the drive (with Vista running) choose to Upgrade to Windows 7 In-Place (the top option) and everything will be copied and reinstalled during the install process. You will keep your Vaio programs, your own installed programs (as long as they are Windows 7 compatible), your Windows settings and User Accounts, and all of your data.

You may find that you have to reinstall a few drivers (Graphics, Pointing, SD Card) but this is far better than having to reinstall everything from scratch. You will also keep your Recovery Partition just in case something goes wrong or you wish to return to Vista in the future.

It is only the Sony Upgrade Kit that removes the Recovery Partition.
