vaio PCG-FX101 bios upgrade failed

Hi

I tried to upgrade the bios of my vaio using the file on vaio-link site for win 2000. I followed the procedure but during the update the notebook turn off. I'm sure it's not a problem of power supply. Now at the start up the "sony" logo appears but the bootstrap does not continue. The CD ROM seems to work but a boot from CD or floppy does not work.
What can I do now? Is it possible to recover the bios without spending more than for a new notebook? Who I have to call?

Thanks

Mauro

You'll need to speak to VAIO-Link to see if there's any way you can re-flash the BIOS.

You may need to replace the BIOS itself - as it's more than likely you have corrupted it during the crash.

Good luck.

Try pressing F2 to open the BIOS setup screen. If it activates then reset to defaults & reboot. If it doesn't do anything then you probably have an expensive paperweight :slight_frown: :slight_frown:

That all depends on Sony's co-operation.
I know some people who bought new chips and put it in and were fine.
