Hi there I have just upgraded my XL100 to Vista Home Premium, however the eject button on the front no longer ejects the disks I have to go into the control panel and do it manually. It’s a bit of a pain as I need to close media centre to do this. It there a bit of software I need to get the button to work or should the OS be able to do it
Many Thanks David
Hi David and welcome to Club Vaio.
Have you installed all the Vista Utilities for your model? These usually control button actions.

Hi I started to install all the Vista update utilities however I got to a point where I was installing everything under the sun with no luck. I then had the problem if background Vaio utilities crashing, which would crash media centre. So I decided to seek some help and see if anyone know which update if any got the button working. The titles of the updates are very vague so it is hard to know what it does I don't like just installing everything as half the things I never use and these wee utilities are the things that slow the computer down
There are only 6 Vista Utility programs for your model.
You must install them in order: -
1. Sony Utils DLL
2. Sony Shared Library
3. Vaio Event Service
These three are the minimum to get the Fn keys working.
I would also install the other three: -
Vaio Action Setup
Shared Video Library
Vaio Control Centre
I don't think any of these will slow your Vaio down but they may make your buttons work. I am not aware exactly which utility controls the DVD eject.

Hi thanks for the reply however I am still no further forward, the eject button still will not eject. I followed the order of utilities to install and installed all 6, the only result i could see was the ability to change the S1 buttons function.
