CDX-GT450U only plays IPOD in shuffle

Hi Guys. I just bought a cdx-gt450u but when I plug the ipod into the USB, it will only play in shuffle mode. Ive changed the pereat and shuffle modes to "off" but it just picks random songs from random albums. Any help would be appreciated!
