Hi I reset my phone instead of switching it off. When I turned it back on a message came up "error sd corrupt erase and format to fix" what's caused this to happen and why? Please can someone help ASAP. I have a Sony Xperia xa1 ultra G3221 phone.
Many thanks berni. X

Hi @BernieB123, I am sorry to hear about this.
Have you tried taking the memory card out of the phone and inserting it again in order to make sure the memory card is inserted correctly? Another thing you can try is to insert another memory card in the phone in order to to rule out a defect of the memory card.
If your phone still says that the memory card is corrupt after all this, I am afraid that there is no other way to make the memory card to work again other than formatting the memory card. In order to format the memory card, Find and tap Settings > Tap Storage > Tap SD card > the menu icon (three vertical dots), then tap Storage settings > Format > ERASE & FORMAT.
let me know if this helps!

Hi Martin.
Thank you for your reply to my question. I had to format the sd card and is working well now.
But the only problem I'm having now is when I move my apps to the sd card they won't update on Google play store. Why is this?
Hi again @BernieB123 and thank you for your reply!
I am glad to hear that you managed to format the SD card in order to get it to work again. When it comes down to updating the apps on the SD card as well as the apps on the internal storage, there are two app that is involved in the process of downloading and updating apps in your phone. Google play and Google Play services.
have you tried clearing the data for these apps? By clearing the data you will reset all settings for the apps which might do the trick. In order to do this Find and tap Settings > Apps and notifications > App-info > Tap the three dots in the top right corner > tap "Show system" > Google play/Google play services > Storage > Clear data > Restart the phone and try to update the apps again. Please note that you might need to clear data for both Google Play and Google Play services.
Try this and let me know how it goes!
