I have had my Z2 for about 3 months now and noticed some odd behaviour when charging.
Firstly if I try to charge from a low power (PC USB port, car usb port or other wall socket charger) it will not charge up. In fact low power chargers will such as PC ports will actively discharge my phone. When doing a firmware update I must ensure my phone is fully charged as when plugged in to my laptop the screen and processes running on my Z2 will discharge the phone.
Also if, even overnight I charge my phone on a third party usb charger using the Sony cable it will rarely charge properly. Generally if charged with anything other than a sony charger the display flicks on and off and the charge icon (lighting symbol next to the battery icon) will flick on and off and the battery discharges again.
The exception is when the phone runs out of battery and shuts down even the sony charger can not revive it. The sony charger seems to not have enough current to charge and restart the system. The battery empty icon appears flashes up and the red led lights for 5 seconds or so before going out and then again they both light up this cycle continues all night and in the morning the phone still has no power. Resetting by power and volume up has no effect other than three vibrations and then it returns to the battery symbol/led five second cycle.
At this point the only recharge solution is to use a iPad 5.1v 2amp charger for the initial charge, a couple of hours then switching back to the sony charger (1.5amp) again.
In summary it seem that any charger under 1.5amp will not charge my phone and once the battery is dead I need far more than that to bring it back to life (2.1amp). Plus if I switch off the phone by holding down the power button and selecting shut down it does not completely shut down, the SONY logo keeps appearing every 20 seconds or so then the screen goes blank.
I have kind of accepted this but wish I could charge of a PC USB port for convenience at least even if it took 4 to 10 times as long to charge. I wish SONY would find a way of getting my phone to charge, however slowly from a standard USB port.
If anyone can tell me something is wrong and I should send my phone back please let me know.
Cheers
