Hello everyone,
I have to start by admitting I know that I am posting in the wrong section. My question is about the older non-feature Sony Ericsson cellular telephones. The sections that are for Sony Ericsson handsets seems to be very quiet.
I have noticed through the unlocked Sony Ericsson handsets that I have owned that some of them had internet settings written in Chinese and that were locked. Since they were locked I couldn't delete them or edit them. There were two different internet settings accouts and both were in Chinese and locked. I do remember one of them had GPRS written after the Chinese characters.
My question is what were those doing there on an unlocked Sony Erisson handset? One of them was a T715a which is designated for the Americas so it doesn't make any sense for it to have Chinese internet settings. My only guess is that the phones were fake or that they were only meant for the Chinese market.
When you are unable to delete the internet settings this means that the phone is branded for an operator. It may not be SIM locked but the software is made for an operator.
You should be able to download new settings to the phone and then select them instead of the preinstalled ones under Settings -> Connectivity.
That makes that phone I had a weird case. It had internet settings locked in Chinese so that meant the software had been locked to a Chinese mobile operator though the actual phone model was a T715a which is meant for the Americas. It seems to me that it could have been a fake phone.
Did you buy the phone new or used? It may also be that someone has tried to modify the phones software using 3:rd party tools and installed wrong firmware in it.
