As soon as I switch to mobile data my texts come through and I can receive calls again. Tried googling but I haven't found anyone with this problem for this particular phone, and the solutions they found for their phone don't work for me. It's really frustrating as my 3G is incredibly slow. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm with Virgin Mobile (SIM only).
if you have 4g enabled but do not have a 4g service from your carrier it could be quite likly that you are not recieving any data as the phone is talking to the network and the network will be ignoring it as its not enabled at both ends.
If the suggestion above doesn't help I would suggest that you talk to your network provider to get a new SIM card to see if that works better.

Seems like you need to do some work when using Virgin Mobile since it is piggy backing on other networks.
I've been unable to receive calls. Called Sony support who didn't recognise the issue at all and referred me back to Virgin. Virgin asked me to turn off wifi which fixed the problem (setting GSM or WDCMA/GSM didn't solve the problem). Josh at Virgin Mobile said that this was a known glitch affecting several android handsets across networks and brands, and that a fix was iminent. I hope he's right.
Not Really strange at all i have exactly the same problem with my z2 it is brand new out of the box NO!!!!! apps installed.
i have also had the problem with condensation inside the camera. i think sony need to seriously rethink the marketing of this phone it is NOT and never will be water proof its is water resistant at best and woe betide you if you place it in water cooler than the inside of the phone because condensation is inevitable and sony appers to be sticking two fingers up to every customer telling them you must have left the flaps open.
Disgraceful attitude
I am having this issue with my new Z2 handset with a virgin media sim only too.
Did anyone find a permanent fix (beyond leaving wifi off)
