XPERIA 1 dual stop at login screen, go black, no touch but finger print works
Phone boots, show Sony then Android then XPERIA, then Login screen for a second and then screen go black.
Phone is on!
Touch does not work, Finger print seems to work, because the phone vibrate after recognizing thumb print, but I can't see the Numeric keyboard were I first have to enter the pass code after a reboot or startup.
I want to download all my data, but how?
- USB to PC - Can hear phone connect and prompt for OK "Data connection", but I can't see and touch is not working
- With PC Companion it ask to Unlock and allow data access, so I can't see and not sure if phone is unlock due to thumb vibration, although it should first require code.
- I tried via USB C to HDMI cable and connect to Monitor and also TV but does not work.
- I Reboot phone (Holding Volume+ and Power for 7 seconds), no affect.
- I Shut down phone (Holding Volume+ and Power for 7 seconds, keeping buttons pressed till phone vibrate 3 times), no affect.
What else can I do?
- Sending from South Africa to where ever for repairs will only result in a factory reset which will delete the Data I want to save first.
History (14 months old)(But in immaculate condition)
Hi I went for the first time in water with the phone in my hand, maybe submersed as deep as 10cm of water a few times.
Phone is in physical 100% perfect condition, always cover and screen protector, 0 scratches.
After submersion phone, screen went dead,, it should not have since it has an IP rating for the depth I submersed it.

the Xperia companion can work on the phone whilst it's turned off, shouldn't ask for a password then.

I have just tried your suggestion.
But it does not work, thank you
Switched off phone, started Xperia Companion and plugged in phone.
Phone went to Charging screen with battery "charging"
Xperia Companion brought up Pop up
Your device is locked
- Unlock required
- Allow data access
None of which I can do while in this state.

Sorry mate, If you have a USB mouse, maybe you can use that to navigate the screen and press on things if the display helps and shows you anything?

Unfortunately as I have mentioned, the screen goes off after about 1 sec when Login Screen appears.
Will source a USB type C mouse or maybe adapter and see if I can blindly enter the pin 2 times, restart, repeat if I realize somehow mouse is working.
If I can just get in and accept the Data transfer I will be fine.
Not sure if it possible to enter a safe mode with my current limitations.

You can enter safe mode by pressing and holding the power off button in the restart box, which is the first option in that menu, I think would be located right after the first half of the screen from the top. not sure if it will work though, may the force be with you.

How can I enable USB Debugging if screen is black?
I opened and cleaned the phone, removed all oxcidation with tooth brush and electrical cleaner.
Phone still switch on, Sony screen, Android Screen, XPERIA Screen then front screen which require logon, then screen go black, phone is still on.
PC see phone, DR Fone software pickup J9110 but require USB Debugging to be set to On.
How can I do this?
Sony can't you link to phone and enter my password so phone is open so I can backup my data?

No one can have such access to any electronic device, unless it's already been set up to be remotely controlled, either that be an app or any sort of software.
Are you not able to bypass the password point at all? even by entering it on the black screen, by memory.

Screen is dead and unresponsive after it started.
I use finger print, phone vibrate and then should ask for finger print which I can not enter since screen is unresponsive and black.
So I tried with USB C OTG and keyboard to enter the pin, tapping on Windows Key once then pin and enter or tapping on windows key twice, enter pin and press's enter, or no windows key and use enter or no enter, does not seem to work.
If I could just enter the pin from XPERIA Companion it would solve everything, I then can backup etc.

Yes, this seems like the touchscreen itself is also affected not just the display, I hate being the bearer of bad news but this may be irreversible.
