BBC iPlayer missing since Android TV v8 update

I recently upgraded my Sony KD-49XD8305 to Android TV v8 and, whilst everything else continues to work, BBC iPlayer has disappeared and is no longer visible in the App Store.

I can’t find anything else online mentioning this issue and can only think that iPlayer hasn’t been updated to work with the latest OS yet.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a fix or workaround?

I didn't think iplayer was visible outside of sony select pre Oreo tbh.

My 5 is the only one that's a normal Play store app.  For the rest that are youview linked and/or pre installed and only available in Sony Select you can sideload them from Hoshsadiq github.  They can then be added to favourites and the apps row, and appear in the apps list from the apps button

Clicked on Programming guide on my homescreen of X9305 - youview is there and iplayer is also tucked in this guide!

Ive just bought a KD55XH9505BU which has twin tuners so you can record one programme whilst watching another. However as soon as you load 'Live TV & Catch Up' ie Youview it disables the recording function on the telly. Why cant you record programmes and still access catch up? I have an LG TV where you can record all day long and still download iplayer and ITV hub as apps. Why wont Sony allow these apps on Bravia except through Youview? Am I asking for the impossible here from a £1,000 2020 television?

And me. Have only just noticed. Has Sony given any advice?

Hi @Sceptic10

Do you have the same TV? Could you check which sw version you have on there by pressing Help - System information?

Thanks. After several checks of all Settings I found that some had been changed by the update. In the end I got back to where I was before the update and now all is well

Glad to hear that @Sceptic10

I found this article on the Sony website, I think that's the setting you meant?

If you havce disabled YouView, reenable it and then see if IPlayer loads. Mine did straight away - I was trying to get my TV to record and that is why I disabled YouView - a YouTube suggested it.

How do you "enable" youview?

Aha, so to find IPlayer you need to press TV and this opens TV in Youview, then press the blue button the press Players and there it is. Why oh why Sony did you let Google hide this away? You have seriously upset your British customers.

Now, where can I find ITV Hub, which also dissapeared and is not hidden with IPlayer. Did Google hide this somewhere else?
