I bought a new Sony DSC WX300 on 11 April 2014 and it ceased to function while I was in Iran in May 2016.
Repairing it I have just learned would cost £122.23. "Upon inspection of the unit the Technician has found that the image stabilizer has failed and requires replacing, this part only comes as part of the complete lens assembly. The revised estimate to repair the item would therefore be £122.23."
I would have expected a Sony camera (carefully used) to last longer than two years.
The important lesson is to have two cameras if you go somewhere unusual where you cannot readily replace your camera!!
